Florida 2013 – Day 4 – Islands of Adventure

We took Superstar Shuttle to Island of Adventure. The park wasn’t too busy, however, we decided to get to Wizarding World of Harry Potter before the crowds arrived. Who thought it was a good idea to put the lockers in a dark room? The ride said 20, but by the time we got through the line it was probably 10 minutes.

Neither of us are fans of Harry Potter, we haven’t read the books, we started to watch the first film, but lost interest. However, the ride was so good we decided it’s worth going back. Hogwarts is pretty impressive too – the attention to detail is amazing and it was nice to see lots of quaint English touches here and there. When the extension is completed in 2014 – the Harry Potter section will be gigantic!

We did the Hippogriff and then walked onto Dragon Challenge, which was really cool as there are two roller coaster rides. Took the red Dragon first – this ride had a lot of tight turns, so we decided to rest our bones.

Made our way to Jurrasic Park – it’s a shame some of the dinosaurs aren’t animated. The wait for the River Adventure was 10, so we jumped in. The ride is highly enjoyable for its age, but it could do with some up-dating. Spent some time watching people getting wet on the ride before taking lunch at Thunder Falls Terrace, which was empty! Food was good though.

Made our way through the park towards Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges. It looks fun – we won’t get that wet thought Hotdog. How wrong he was, we were soaked! He spotted a people drier, whipped out five dollies and all was forgiven. It was a fab ride, but will suggest this at the end of the day.

Made our way Super Hero Island. Didn’t fancy HULK as we felt we were over doing it after Spiderman ride, which was really fab. A storm had been forecast for today, so we decided to leave for the shuttle stop. Looking back towards the theme park we could see the sky getting darker by the minute. We made it to the covered walkway and the heavens opened!

It continued to rain into the evening – so we ordered room service and had a night in.

Florida 2013 – Day 10 – Islands of Adventure!

A bit of a lay in – got up and took the iRide Trolly south to look for some souvenirs. At the ABC Liquor Store, Hotdog swooned over the variety of beers from the micro breweries and the pumpkin beers – he so wanted to bring some back.

Dropped our loot back at the hotel and walked to Islands of Adventure. Did the Harry Potter park first as the lines were short. On our second visit, we spotted even more details that make this part of the park truly amazing – look out for the owls? Did the Dragon Challenge again before making our way through the park. Did HULK, which had a short wait time and Storm Force Accelatron, which is great too.

This was a more chilled out day as we decided not to rush around, but look at gifts etc. Hotdog had his eye on a Bubba Gump base ball cap, which he bought. However, when he tried it on back at the hotel the rivets popped off! Using the power of twitter he was able to contact customer services to arrange a replacement.

Decided to have an evening in with the TV. Popped next door to IHOP, We both had the Breakfast Sampler, which included pancakes – yummy! Returned to the hotel for TV, a few rum’s and an early night.
